Mission Statement:

Taos is a beautiful multicultural community that needs different support because of the variety of barriers and challenges. “Seeds and Roots” is a program of the Taos Behavioral Health emphasized in Spanish/Bilingual family speakers that could be struggling with the communication between the family members, the understanding of the academic system/responsibilities, and the difficulties for healing emotional, behavioral and/or mental issues in life. Therefore, we work with fascinated Community Support Workers (CSW) providing Comprehensive Community Support Service (CCSS) in different schools, around the community, and in our office giving academic, social, behavioral, and recreational support. Furthermore, this program provides clinical/therapeutic service by therapist and internee to children, adolescents and their families seeking for wellness, growth and heal. Therefore, the main goal and mission of the program is to empower the community that there are opportunities and support to face and overcome needs, barriers and challenges in this unique town.

About:

Semillas y Raices “Seeds and Roots” is a program for bilingual students of ages 6 to 17 years old from different schools of Taos, NM. Services are provided inside the schools, and the after-school program is provided in the main office of Taos Behavioral Health. The after-school program provides the students with a safe, healthy and comfortable environment while socializing doing activities like homework, crafting, mindfulness, exercises, and more. Besides receiving support in academic, social, behavioral and recreational fields, the students and families are offered individual, family and group therapeutic sessions.
