Familia y Mundo

Mission Statement:

Our Mission is to help children and their families with social, emotional, behavioral, and family support. Through individual, milieu, group, and family therapy by a Licensed Therapist: as well as play, recreational, and educational support from a Community Support Worker (CSW). FyM works with elementary aged children mainly in 1st through 5th grades, that are primarily from Ranchos Elementary School. However, elementary students from other schools are welcome as well. Through our program, youth practice social and emotional skills in an emotionally safe environment through a variety of activities that are supervised by a Licensed Therapist and CSW. At Ranchos Elementary we are offer in-school services and after-school therapeutic based program. During the Summer and Holidays, we offer fun camps to continue supporting these youth and their social, emotional, and behavioral well-being.

About:

Launched in 2011, Familia y Mundo is an after-school therapeutic program for elementary school students. The program is housed at Ranchos Elementary School, although participating students are drawn from several elementary schools in the Taos area.

Students receive group therapy (daily) and individual therapy (weekly or as needed).

In addition, the youth can practice social and emotional skills in an emotionally safe environment through a variety of activities, such as:

  • Participate in arts and crafts
  • Receive help with homework
  • Engage in physical fitness
